In 2005, HAHC introduced “Accessa”, a new at-home specimen collection & laboratory testing and patient adherence system for use with patients screened and treated for high cholesterol.
The Accessa “Convenience Kit” is designed for at-home use and provides physician ordered testing for full lipid profile (low-density lipoprotein cholesterol LDL-C), and liver enzyme (ALT). The kit includes a finger stick collection device with a proprietary red blood / serum separation method. The postage-paid kit is mailed to HAHC’s lab for processing and results are reported to the ordering physician. Laboratory tests are processed using a patent-pending method that has been clinically proven1 to correlate with extreme accuracy vs. tradition venous blood testing.
The Accessa “Patient Management System" provides fulfillment of Convenience Kits mailed directly to patients homes and includes patient enrollment, reminders, reports, physician interaction, patient reinforcement and repetition. This system was modeled after methodology employed by a leading lipid clinic that demonstrated systematic patient management to be 700% more effective at helping patients achieve their LDL goals, compared to 250,000 patients with heart disease in a nationwide study done a year earlier.
